Our Citrix Jersey City office was moving to another place, which is only several blocks away from the old building. We will now see even Elli Island and Status of Liberty, and still enjoy the fabulous waterfront! Besides, we will have more spacious room, stand-up desks, more guest offices, and meeting rooms, for private conversation or large group meeting.
As a souvenir for the old place, our Marketing Director Tom Nickerson has been thinking to do a coffee mug and came to us for a favor (we don’t have delegated graphic designers in our JC office). The only requirement is anything Jersey City or audio focused.
Fortunately, I have our Principal UX Consultant Jim Kalbach who grew up in the neighborhood nearby kindly informed me some symbols of Jersey City, including Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, The Holland Tunnel, The NJ Turnpike (Exit 14), The Pulaski Skyway, The White Mana Dinner.
For this project, I use keynote for quickly exploring the ideas. The final idea is to eliminate all the noises by using only the outlines, which makes the design looks simple, belonging to one family, and easy to print on mug. After all, you don’t want the mugs to be very distracting on your work desk, and you want it to be enjoyable, lovely, and full of memory.
